To Sum It Up

It's hard to keep up with blogging; writing, editing, all the photos, especially when I'm too busy having fun. But I'll sum it up.

The sunrise in Xalapa after my first day completely solo:

The park in the middle of town that made me feel like I had FINALLY made it somewhere tropical, even though I was still technically in the mountains. But... turtles

I'm not one for tours, but I had to do the Sumidero Canyon boat tour while I was in Tuxtla Gutierrez. It was worth it because spider monkeys.

I spent some time in the infamous San Cristobal de Las Casas.

This is actually where I felt the closest to home. Most of the photos were taken in El Arcotete, a park just outside of town. It was cold and drizzly in the mountains, there were pine needles all over the ground and a bubbling river. It felt like autumn on the BC coast.

Very different from these water falls in Palenque, which looks more like cake.

And the ruins in Palenque that looked like they were about to be swallowed by the jungle.

The Edzna ruins in Campeche that was so quiet with tourists that it felt like I was the only one there.

And Campeche too, was a very cute town. The historical downtown is surrounded by a wall, mostly recently reconstructed for historical and cultural purposes. The original wall was built to prevent against pirate attacks but it wasn't completed until shortly before the attacks ended. Now it's just nice to look at.

Then I spent Christmas in Valladolid. I didn't take a lot of photos here because I was busy having fun. I met a lot of special people here that I was very sad to say good bye to.

But while in Valladolid I saw some must-see cenotes.

And Chichen Itza of course. Can't go to the Yucatan without seeing one of the seven wonders of the world.

Although to be honest I enjoyed the ruins in Campeche and Palenque much more.

And wrap it up with New Years in the sleepy beach town of El Cuyo with a random Danish guy whose name I forget. But the sunset was nice.

Happy New Year
